Poetry Matters Project
There are presently no open calls for submissions.
Whether you are a published poet, have never written a poem, or have the writing of a poem on your bucket list, the Poetry Matters Project invites you to take the “2022 Poetry Month Challenge”! This is where participants challenge their friends, and family to submit a poem, of no more than 30 lines in 30 days. Entries can be posted here. You can send your entry as an audio recording, mp3, or video file. Document files will be requested from winners only this year.
You must be at least thirteen years of age to enter. There is no cost to submit your poem to the “ 2022 Poetry Month Challenge.” Only one entry will be allowed per contestant and must be original works that have never been published.

Entries will be accepted until April 30, 2022
Prize Categories:
Young Poets: 2 Categories
Middle School Students: now know as Dave Drake Literary Prize
Middle schoolers must provide contact email of a parent or guardian before submission is accepted.
High School Students: now known as Gerald Knight Literary Prize
Adult Poets: now known as Spring Robinson/Mahogany Red Lit Prize
Poets between the age of 20 and 60 years old: this category includes college aged students.
Seasoned Poets: 61 years and older. Working on a title for this prize. Any suggestions?
Judging
Entries will be assessed by three judges, to whom the poets will not be identified (blind judging).
REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTRIES
Anyone, anywhere may submit.

Submission Guidelines:
1. All work must be original and previously unpublished. We accept simultaneous submissions, but please let us know immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere.
2. Submit one reading of your poem. No identifying information should be on the reading entry. Submit entry as a video or audio file.
3. All participants agree to be subjects of press releases and media stories about their work and the contest.
4. Your submission is an agreement that should your entry win; you will provide a document of your winning entry as soon as notification of your placement as a winner of the contest has posted.
5. All submissions should include
• your name
• postal address •
• phone number
• email address
• school name and address with name of school principal listed
• your submission title(s), • and a short, publishable bio of approximately 50 words.
Submissions not following these criteria will be disqualified.

DEADLINE: Your poem must be submitted through submittable by April 30, 2022.
